Frome Carnival 2020

It is with regret that Frome Carnival Organising Committee announce the postponement of this year’s carnival until 2021.
This decision has not been taken lightly but because of the current and ongoing COVID 19 situation and the expectation that restrictions on large gatherings and social distancing will remain in place for some time and maybe all year, then the procession in it’s usual format cannot take place.

This decision also falls in line with that taken by the County Circuit, who have announced the postponement of their November Carnivals.

If the situation improves then we may be able to put on a small event on our scheduled date of 26/09/20, maybe incorporating the carnival mile fun run in the afternoon procession slot to raise money for local charities, as without the collection from the processions there will unfortunately be no money to give away this year.

But we will of course take into account government’s current guidelines before deciding to go ahead as our top priority is to keep everyone safe, both spectators and helpers.

The Fun day planned for Saturday 6th June is also postponed and this may be held in September too, but a decision on whether any event can go ahead will take place later in the year, depending on circumstances nearer the time.

Anyone who has already paid for a pitch for the funday can either request a refund, or wait to see if the event goes ahead in Sept, or donate the fee to the carnival charities, this would be greatly appreciated.
Stay safe and well everyone and we look forward to seeing you all soon. Please do get in touch if you are struggling and need help- we will do our very best to try to help.

Stay positive! Stay safe! Stay healthy!

Frome Carnival Organising Committee announce the postponement of this year’s carnival until 2021.

Although we have postponed this year’s procession we still have bills to pay such as annual insurance premiums of £1000 approx.

We run a 100 club normally to help pay for a band in the procession, however this year we may need to use it for other purposes to keep us up and running for the future.

If you would like to become a member of our 100 club, the cost is only £24/year and there are 2 cash prizes each month.

Please email or phone our Chairman and Treasurer, June Barnes on 01373 461625 for more information and details of how to pay.
