Throughout the year, Frome Carnival Committee works determinedly to raise the funds needed to pay for the Carnival. By doing this, we ensure that the donations given during the processions can be passed to the Carnival Charity and help local people, good causes and organisations.
Our two single biggest fundraising events are the June Fun Day and September Duck Race. However, we also hold multiple other events and activities throughout the year to boost our accounts.
Some of our recent events have included: a sausage sizzle at Bunnings, Christmas raffle, sponsored swim and a pub quiz. We are always keen to hear new fundraising ideas or for local individuals and groups to organise an event for us – and we assure you, we’ll be incredibly grateful for the help!
During September, we also run two different competitions:
Spot The Windows Competition
The Somerset Standard sponsors this annual event, whereby participating shops in the town display a special RED spot in their windows. A little like a treasure hunt, simply find the spots and note them down! Entry is just £1 and the forms can be purchased from the Tourist Information Centre or Frome Library.
The winner will receive £20!
Best Dressed Shop Window
We are incredibly keen to spread the Carnival Spirit and we therefore invite all Frome shops to dress their windows for Carnival! The competition will be judged by the Carnival Ambassadors, with the winning shop receiving a trophy. Our thanks to the Frome Times for sponsoring this event.
